Sawtooth Country

    David Beisly-Giuotto

Working summers as a carpenter and river guide at the headwaters of Idaho’s Salmon River, David Beisley-Guiotto hiked into the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness and climbed the peaks of the Sawtooth Mountains, reflecting on friendship, the vistas, and the history of the area.  This book comprises a poetic record of that experience.

David Beisly-Guiotto is the author of Holocene Trail Guide to the Boise Front (Wild Dog Press, 2000), a guide to the geography, flora and fauna, and geologic history and process of the Boise foothills.  His poems have appeared in numerous magazines. A student of Chuck Guilford and Gary Snyder, he currently lives in San Francisco.
