A collection of aphorisms about poetry first read over Pacifica Radio KPFA-FM in the 1950s, subsequently lost for decades, and recovered from tape archives to appear here in print for the first time. Letterpress printed on Mohawk Superfine paper and sewn by hand into Magnani Pescia wrappers in an edition of 750 copies. Lawrence Ferlinghetti is the founder of City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco and the first Poet Laureate of that city. His most recent work is What Is Poetry? (Creative Arts Books, 2000). His Coney Island of the Mind (New Directions, 1958), has sold more copies than any book of poetry in the 20th century.
