Passions We Desire

Journeys of the mind, body, and spirit through a world of constant flux and change. These superbly crafted poems celebrate the redemptive power of passion and love, whether dancing on a river or in the back seat of a car.

William Studebaker was a poet, essayist, and outdoor photographer, as well as a correspondent and feature writer for the Times-News and a feature writer for Idaho Magazine. He frequently published in Tertulia, an on-line magazine, and in journals and reviews.

William taught literature classes for Idaho State University. And he was a partner in the Idaho Whitewater Safety and Rescue company for which he taught river safety and kayaking.

He was awarded the Idaho Humanities Council's Outstanding Humanist Award for 2005. On July 4, 2008, he died in a kayaking accident on the East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon River.

His recent books are Passions We Desire (Limberlost), River Religion (Limberlost), Travelers in an Antique Land (Caxton Press), and Short of a Good Promise (WSU Press).
